About the ceremony
Upanayanam is a sacred Vedic rite of passage, marking the beginning of a young man's
journey into spiritual learning and Brahmacharya. Chi. Aarush will receive the sacred thread — the Yagynopavita — and take his first steps on the path of the Vedas under the blessings of his family and loved ones.

Naandi
The blessings of the vatuvu's ancestors are obtained, prior to the Upanayanam ceremony.
Udaka Santhi
Purified water from a "kalasha" is poured over the vatuvu to protect him from evil.
Yagynopaveetha Dhaaranam
The sacred thread is placed across the vatuvu's left shoulder by his father.
Kumara Bhojanam
The vatuvu is fed by his mother for the last time, symbolizing his transition to independence.
Brahmopadesam
The Gayatri Mantra is whispered into the vatuvu's ear by his father, who becomes his guru.
Surya Darsanam
The vatuvu seeks blessings from the Sun God through a peep hole between his palms.
Bhiksha
The vatuvu symbolically asks for alms, teaching him humility and control over his ego.
Abhivandanam
The vatuvu seeks blessings from elders by performing Sashtaanga Namaskaram.
